CATHI'S PRIVATE CRUISE TO CATALINA
Many around the School refer to Cathi as the "Cookie
Lady". She always brings her home baked world finest cookies.
This month she chartered yatch Zeus and our Director Paul (Captain
Cookie) for a private trip to Catalina with her father, Bill
and friend Karsten. They had a super trip to the Island on the
weekend just before Memorial Day and found as Paul suspected
a near empty Island with a choice of moorings.

BARE
BOAT COURSE TO CATALINA ISLAND

View
of Zeus from Olympus
Zeus
has run in 34 Ensenada races! CSA student Myrna got into
the act by chartering a helicopter and tracking down Zeus
15 miles off Dana Point. Some spectacular photos resulted!
Our mid-pack finish that year may not have been memorable,
but the other boats are still probably wondering why we
had our own airial escort!
2006
We
have selected most of the student crew for this years
race to Ensenada. They all have been excellent students
and sailors. We look forward to a fun and successful 35th
year.

Dear Paul,
Thanks so much for your guidance through both the Sailing
1 & 2 Classes. Our last journey to Redondo Beach on
Zeus was a spectacular experience!
I think
i speak for Duc, Andrea & myself in that we are hooked.
Still got
the taste of the fresh apple pie you cooked aboard. Duc,
Andrea & I have yet to take our tests & log our
on-the-water hours.....such busy lives; and all we want
to do is sail! . Here's a shot that Jeannie took of our
happy crew:

Baltic
Sacks Sparta!
CSA student
Dylan recently entered his Baltic '42 in its debut race
- the Fletcher Memorial race from Catalina to Palos Verde
point. In light air upwind, boats dropped out of the race
throughout the day. In the end Dylan's Papalagi and local
racing regular Sparta (a 1-design 48) sprinted for the
finish.
Sparta crossed 6 minutes ahead, but owed Dylan 20+ minutes
correction! Dylan and his crew Myrna were thrilled with
the win.
